DBsock (Mingwei Gao) is an Alternative R&B artist and producer who employs music as a means of therapy.

Born and raised in Shenzhen, China, DBsock pursued her passion for Psychology in the

United States at the age of 14, and started studying music production after graduating

from college.

​

Launching her artistic career in Los Angeles (2023), DBsock integrates her educational background in Psychology and Fine Arts with her music.

​

Her artistic vision embodies two distinct personas: one is an outcast, evoking a near 'divine' feminine presence inspired by artists like FKA twigsand Björk, while the other is a grounded, authentic persona influenced by talents such as 070 Shake, SZA, Kehlani, kwn, Mac Miller, and 福禄寿 (Floruitshow). As the producer and songwriter of most music, DBsock invests her passion and energy into vocal production, sound design, and lyrics, striving to encapsulate her deep desire for understanding.
